In many cases microwave passive devices require frequency selective responses, that is, transmission or rejection of the incident power depending on the frequency of the signal. This behaviour is achieved through the use of filters made up of resonant structures, which have resonators with electromagnetic couplings among them. The physical implementation of the resonators can be carried out using different technologies. The design procedure for this kind of devices is usually executed in two steps: 1. Synthesis of an electric network with the prescribed frequency response. The network is composed of a set of circuit elements, interconnected in a given configuration. Moreover, the elements are characterized by their numerical coefficients. This step is independent of the building technology for the device. 2. Transformation of the elements of the network model into physical elements with an analogous electrical response. The numerical coefficients of the network model are related in some way to the dimensions of the physical elements. The present works studies the two described problems, performing a complete design cycle of a bandpass filter in rectangular waveguide in X-band. Additionally, as in intermediate steps, Chebychev responses using the in line and folded configuration will be studied. |
